Praveen Khandelwal, a leader of the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT), is calling for Amazon and Flipkart to be suspended in India.

This follows a report that the Competition Commission of India (CCI) found the companies guilty of breaking competition rules and giving unfair advantages to certain sellers.

Khandelwal, who is also a BJP Member of Parliament, plans to meet with Union Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal to discuss suspending these e-commerce platforms.

He argues that their actions are harming India's manufacturing industry.

Khandelwal also wants the government to introduce stricter rules for e-commerce to prevent similar problems in the future.

CAIT's National President, BC Bhartia, has accused foreign-funded e-commerce platforms of hurting local retailers through unfair pricing practices and is considering legal action.

The All India Mobile Retailers Association (AIMRA) supports the CCI's report and stresses the need to protect local mobile retailers from damaging practices.

This move adds to the ongoing conflict between CAIT and these e-commerce giants, with CAIT consistently urging action against them.

The call for suspension comes shortly after Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal criticised Amazon India’s pricing strategies, although he later clarified that the government supports fair online marketplaces.
